3.2 Community Partnerships Outside of the School or School System
Partnership with Mt. Airy Girl Scout Troop 1046
Girl Scouts Marker Recycling
Date: 2016 - Current
Description: A local Girl Scout Troop partnered with us to help with the Crayola Marker Recycling. They registered with Crayola and took care of acquiring shipping labels from Crayola. The Girl Scouts kept an eye on the collection boxes and when full, they shipped the crayons and markers to Crayola. The Girl Scouts also created posters to advertise the program. They also created posts on their community Facebook pages to remind parents to send old markers and broken crayons into Parr’s Ridge. The Girl Scouts were also available to collect the markers and crayons from classrooms, if teachers preferred. |
Girl Scouts Planting Project
Girl Scouts from Troop 1046 planting annuals and mums in front of Parr’s Ridge
Partnership with Home Depot, Hanover, PA
Date: February 2019
Description: Second grade students wrote letters to Home Depot of Hanover, PA requesting a donation of potting soil for our new indoor plants. The potting soil was used to create indoor plants throughout the school. Our After school Green Club took cuttings from established plants, rooted them and re-planted them to share throughout the building. |
