1.3.2 Systematic Partnership
Farm to Table- First Grade
Date: September 2018, 2019
The first graders, along with cafeteria staff, participated in the Farm to Table Partnership with Local Farms, and learned the importance of buying local. The students washed apples and potatoes in addition to husking corn. The corn was so plentiful that each first grader had their own ear to husk and wash. We had more than enough corn to accommodate all of first grade, so we ended up sending some to the other schools (MAES and MAMS) to be able to serve on their lines for lunches! A display was out for the students to show them what items we had received from the local farms. Students even participated in a taste test of local veggies and fruits. They were so excited especially when they saw the finished product served for lunch that day!
