Green School Initial Interest Meeting
Teachers: Carly Miller (Outdoor School Representative), and Allyson Sealfon (Teacher- Parr’s Ridge)
Date: April 2017
Description: Mrs. Miller and Mrs. Sealfon originally met at Hashawha. Mrs. Sealfon was on a field trip with her kindergartners and Mrs. Miller was working at the Outdoor School. They made plans for Mrs. Miller to come out to Parr’s Ridge to meet with Mrs. Sealfon to explain how to apply to become a Maryland Green School. They went over an overview of the application process and took the first steps of applying to be considered as a Maryland Green School.

MAEOE Conference, Towson, MD
Teachers: Celeste Donoghue (First Grade Teacher) and Allyson Sealfon (Kindergarten Teacher)
Date: February 9, 2019 Description: Allyson Sealfon and Celeste Donoghue attended the MAEOE Conference in Towson, Maryland. They chose 4 breakout sessions, which focused on Environmental Education in Early Childhood. It was a great opportunity to network, and see various resources available for our schools. |
New Teacher Training at Outdoor School
Teachers: Linda Black, Bridgid Bopst, Kelli Steinburg, Cathy Strong
Date: August 2016, 2017 CCPS New Teacher training- New teachers were invited to the Outdoor School Campus and given a tour of the school and learned about the activities taking place there. Mary Hoy, Live Materials Coordinator, took teachers to the frog pond, talked about the importance of habitats, life cycles, and showed where she finds frog eggs to distribute to the kindergarten classrooms in the Spring for the Science unit on Living Things. Bryan Shumaker, Coordinator of STEM, taught about opportunities for students at Hashawha that relate to Elementary Science Curriculum. |
